Wow, what a shot. Question. Are there two camps here? Your layout looks like it will become a “prototypical” or museum quality pike, while others like myself at least in the large scale trains present a “TOY LIKE” atmosphere. Do you argue or fight over which route to go?
As many of you are aware, California recently approved their budget. One of the requirements were the deposit of resources to ensure involvement in the new National Health Plan. As the state currently has an estimated 62% uninsured, the premium was a little high. Then adding a little humility to injury it was also required that the carrier be one that was certified by the current administration. So surprisingly enough the B&O was contacted for the transport. The only rolling stock available was an “open hopper”. (The remainder of their inventory had been damaged in a unplanned mishap somewhere in NC.)
The hopper was immediately transferred to the California depository, where the cargo was to be loaded.
The deposit was compiled as a result of melting down various statues of the states most recent govenors.
The transport car was immediately scheduled for loading and preparation for departure to the East Coast. Loading commenced immediately !!
Given the special “load” a guarded consist was immediately scheduled, including armed guards, and escorts.
Yes there are two different camps here. This one was taken at The Western Reserve Model Railroad Musuem (www.wrmrrm.org). The Museum has a large 66 foot by 24 foot E shape layout and a 8 by 12 foot tin plate layout and a 4 by 16 foot 2 rail O gauge layout. I also have two layouts at home (one 10 by 20 and one 5 by 8).
I find this highly suspect. Contrary to popular belief the only thing left in Fort Knox are 2 cases of Schlitz and some cobwebs. This authentic picture proves it.
