Thomas and James has a new home!
Phish - The loader came out very nice. How far do you break things down before reapinting them? I imagine those little rivets are a bear.
Phish great job on the restorations. They look great. Frank53, your photos are always great to see. Spankybird, always glad to see Thomas and James. Here’s a picture of my first 3 engines, a 259e steamer, a 258 steamer, and a 248 electric.

This is a Williams with ERR TMCC added. Pulls like a mule.
Wouldn’t you know it, Bob’s asleep in the CTT Box Car, again.
My new Lionel PRR K-4. Just got it last week. Very impressed with its operation for a conventional engine(command ready). I’m waiting for a R2LC board from lionel. Should be here this week. Great railsounds and smoke.

“Nick’e Earthmoving, Coal, and Gravel”, a business I’m working on named for my grandson, Nicholas:
Pete,
Is this a kit-bash/scratch build, or are the structures purchased? I’m looking to do something similiar on my pike with the coal discharge area.
Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brent

MACYS!!! Christmas 2008 NYC:
Upper right is the Chrysler building, down the street is the Pan Am Building and just below it it Grand Central Terminal.
Nice pictures today guys!! Nice work Jim!!
I’ve been working on a couple projects lately… in addition to those posted last week.
This is the beginnings of ‘Billboard Hill’:
I started with some 2 inch foam, marked them and cut with the Tippy Foam Cutter, then attached to the layout with Elmer’s White Glue. There are two pieces here and I applied some white glue between them as well. After the glue had set up I molded the foam into the shape I was looking for using the Tippy.
Here the entire surface has been coated with spackle.
I used the ‘color changing’ spackle as that was what I had on hand.
Here is the hill this morning after the spackle has set up and hardened:
Then I test fitted the billboard again to make sure I had the hilltop level:
The other project is the Oil Field and Fuel Company. The scene is in the mockup stages:
Yes the oil derrick and oil pump are recessed into the ceiling tiles. The intent is to scenic upto their bases so you won’t see the gaps.
Couple of overview shots:
It’s been a good month here having Fifes Kitty Kat on the layout but it’s nearly time for her to move to points east. Here’s a quick review of her stay here.
Here she comes around the bend heading for the station
It was just a little after sunrise when she rolled in today
Looks like someone was trying to sneak a free ride, I think he has and identical twin somewhere
This couple were a little surprised to say the least
It appears he tried to hide up on top
But I think the Iowa Highway Patrol has him in their sights
Everything seems to be cleared up and you can the boxcar is headed towards Chicago
It was a good month for the Chessie Cat in Iowa
Brent- Found this on the ex B&O main in Strongsville, Ohio.
Jason,
Those pics have given me some ideas! Got any more?
If you could send them to my email address I would appreciate it…

There was a bit of excitement on the SFSRR this past evening. At approximately 10pm a distress call was heard coming from deep in the Hear o’ Dixie. A recon team was dispatched and the location of the distress call was verified. Seems a Zinc Tanker was being held hostage by the Town of Roseyville, NC. The mayor felt it would be a good item to hijack seeing that zinc is good for fighting colds and with the recent snows there was some concern that the town would soon be sick. After some hard work, a decoy was contracted from the GNRR to rescue the tanker and bring her safely North.
After a furious trip North, dodging Southern interceptors the entire way the GNRR GP-7 hands the precious cargo over to more capable hands:
The SFSRR staff discusses what the NJ Crew would like to do, now that they are safely back North. The NJ Crew requests a tour of The SFSRR, and their current projects.
In order to properly show her around, some assistance in called in, while 3044 turns herself around.
Here comes 8945 for extra motive power for the long journey through The Narrows Gourge…

Hi ZW.
I’ve also got that Pennsy K-4. It came a couple of weeks before Christmas and about a month or so after my Union Pacific GP-7. Both locos seem to be good pullers and the K-4 also smokes real good and emits smoke rings to boot. Very cool.
Enjoy yours.

A great bunch of pictures today, too many to list everyone by name, they were all very good.
It’s about time to send the NC car down the line to Maryland so the officials of the BUBB&A decided the cargo should be inspected to be sure it was secure before forwarding it to another railroad.
A mounted security detail was on hand when the doors were opened.
On closer inspection, the actual identity of the cargo was not determined. Several suggestions were made including, a redneck life raft, a lead encased shipment of U238 and a giant sized fishing sinker. After much discussion the car was resealed and sent on it’s way.
Adding a few videos of the Chief’s car heading down the line.

The NC car seems to be a little unstable, notice it’s the only car that rocks. Maybe Fife can figure out what is wrong with it.
Just hanging out by my layout.
