Great pictures so far. Jim, your collection continues to impress. Seayakbill, the black and white Iron city color scheme is really sharp. Buckeye, great website! Here are a couple of my prewar electrics doing some early morning work. My 253 pulling a couple of passenger cars while the 254e pulls to a stop in front of the station.
Jim those operating cars in Flyer S are dear to my heart. Any idea where I can get some of those exotic birds in O gauge? The Blue Board Central could definitely use a bit more color.[;)]
Envfocus, Your layout and trains always make me want to go downstairs and run mine. I think I just might have to do that this morning.
At least I can run trains now. Some time ago the management of the Blue Board Central Division of American Flyer Lines made the decision to make changes to the track and roadbed of the line. Slowly they have been replacing sections of track. Much of it has already been done, but just the other day there was a track crew doing maintenance on the main line coming into town. I happened to be there with my old Brownie and caught some shots. The only problem was it really held up traffic for a while.
Northwoods: If I remember correctly, the Gandy Dancer is the guy tucking the ballast next to the ties. He had a long pole of somesort, and they ran in circles tamping the ballast tight against the ties.
Thanks for the information. My understanding was that anyone working on track maintainace was a Gandy Dancer, so thanks for the clarification. [bow] My grandfather worked on a railroad back in Illinois when he first immigrated from Italy, and for many years his tools were around until the family donated them to the local museum. One of the reasons I like this hobby and this forum is that there is always something new to learn. Here is a link to Wikipedia about the origins of the term Gandy Dancer
I have a cupola to install on the roof and beyond that I am having a roof top sign custom laser cut, which I won’t have until next week and I have lighting to install for the roof top sign and my local hobby shop is sold out of the light I need until the end of May.
I will spruce up the finer details and weathering and wait for teh last of the items to arrive before placing it on the layout.
Glad you liked them. RMT did all the paint. They are a lot of fun because the locals who visit the layout see the real Ohio Central locomotives as the run through Columbus in a similar color scheme. Surprisingly they pull great, too.
After seeing these, I spent some time on the RMT website - man do they have a selection of road names.
Ohio Central is a road name I have never seen done. Did they do this as a special order, or was this in their product line?
I have been hesitant to order one as I heard they are not great pullers. I am glad to hear you report otherwise. I may pull the trigger on the Raritan River Beep they are doing for the NJ Hi-Railers.

I don’t see the Ohio Central RR locos running around Columbus anymore since the RR was sold. I do see up to 3 Chase RR SW type switchers running around Columbus sometimes lashed up as a threesome.
