Done for the season.

As many of you know that have been on the forum since spring, I arrived home from fishing in Canada to find my Garden Railroad buried beneath a 75’ Hickory Tree. This is what I saw when the sun came up.

The railroad is done for the season and here are the photos as of today.

The next project will be the replacement of the elevated section with a wooden trestle.

The trolley and the train are now shuttling people to the weddings. We have many weddings, but most of the people are only two inches tall.

Clang-clang went the trolley. A trolley must have very clean track to operate properly outside.

My C&S Mogul was bought second hand and refurbished by LGB. It is a great engine. No complaints.

The Lodge’s guests arrive by train.

Getting ready for the pumpkin show. Those look like winners to me.

Hey, Chief, when are you going to get your boat out of my pond?

Jimmie D’s Grandpa watches as the Drover Car at the end of the train rounds the curve.

hey guys great photos. Buckeye, the drovers caboose is an LGB model, right? I was looking at a PRR mogul from LGB, but they are wayyyyyyy tooooo much. If i could afford it, i would buy it and letter the drovers caboose in the PRR roadname.

Colin,
Thanks for the compliment. Yes, that is a LGB Drovers Caboose. You might want to take a look at this LGB Pennsylvania set

I have seen “shortys” at shows and they look real nice. Ask if the engine has sound tripped by the magnets on the track. If not ask if there is an LGB sound kit. [:)]

thanks buckeye,
i have a little thought put into what i want to buy. I was ant Nicholas Smith yesterday, and they have the MTH gauge 1 NS dash 8 that i have had my eyes in for a while. It is the best price i have seen so far $400.00. If i go with that, i will same all of my money from caddying to purchase DCS and then get the engine for Christmas, and some cars. It would look out of scale with my 1:29 scale cars. The MTH model is 1:32

SPOOK SPOOKY SPANKYBIRD looks like another GREAT set up. I love it.
BUCKEYE nice to see you got the backyard railway working and all seems well. I like your PUMPKINS? (wink) But the ones at Victorias Secrets are better.(wink).

Buckeye…That is a great looking setup. Gotta see that.
Do you have a snow plow? Or did I miss it?

Highrail, a great start.

Here’s a web site that you may find helpful.

For some strange reason, Columbus, Ohio is a hot bed of Garden RR. (It may be connected to our German heritage.) There used to be a big layout at the State Fair. Fair managment, that has since ben fired, ran off all the model train exhibits, but now our Easton Towne Plaza has a huge layout constructed by the people mentioned in the web page above. The layout pictured on the web page is at Franklin Park.

Here’s a couple of pics of my layout under construction.

I think I’m finally doing this right. Need a digital camera.
Chuck

Nice pictures everyone. Here are some pictures of the train cars that i have and of some of the tools that i found and the bench that was with the tools.

Big Poison and little poison?

if any one is interested in some of the tools let me know. I’m going to keep a couple of them and give some to R.R. museum here in town and the rest i’m going to give away.

Chuck,

Looks like you’re on your way to having a very nice layout! Keep us updated.
