Here is a kit engine that belongs to my good friend Steve. This was made in 1937 (about) and was an “O” Scale 2 rail that was built as a 3 rail engine.

And here it is running. VIDEO

Wausau Wisconsin is very fortunate in that it still has both of its train stations. My favorite is the depot on the Valley Line; part of the Milwaukee Road. RockIsland52 - Jack, has mentioned several times that he got on the train at this depot as a child to head back to Chicago. I go past this depot everyday on my way to work. I sure wish I could see the North Woods Hiawatha sitting at the station.

**Northwoods…**maybe the mind of a 5-8 year old makes things up when storing to the brain’s memory, but the second and third pictures is what I remember from circa late August 1956-1959.

Jack.

How about I throw a little HO into the mix just for a change.

Restored AF loco with newly acquired Seattle coaches makes for an inspection run in Marx Territory. Whitcomb Marx yard goat sits in the yard, while the “iron beast” waits to enter it. .

Spankybird.

Some impressive “heavy metal”…motive power…it really gives the impression of heft …what kit did it originate from?

Northwoods,

Wausau station is pretty impressive brought back associations with the Milwaukee Road’s “Fisherman’s Specials” back in the day recalled in Jim Scribbon’s books and photographs.

I would bring my family up to the end of that line every year and hunt around for the right of way. I remember this station name board image tattooed in my brain from Wausau Insurance use of it in ad’s when I was a kid. Thanks for posting this.

We stopped by the rail museum at the L&N station in Bowling Green, Ky Saturday. Snapped some pictures of the outdoor display. These will average out Jeffrey’s HO pictures [:-^]

I pass through Bowling Green a couple times a year, will have to stop by and check out the L&N. Do they have other rolling stock on display also.

Mail car, dining car, sleeper, ‘president’s’ coach are open for tours. Also on site is an unrestored hospital car and a L&N caboose. Inside is a sizeable HO layout with a couple of loops of O scale in display case underneath the HO layout.
