Let’s put some of my photo’s on it too. I’ve been trying to make some sound isolation, and it turned out well. The color, greenish brown, is also good for the further building.
I tried the Chief in front of a small freight train…
The new 2026 is in front of the passenger train. It smokes well with normal smoke-oil, but since the power is off, it doesn’t in the picture.
The small S2 is the one with the new sanyo-motors in it. It runs powerfull, and because I wired the engines parallel, it doesn’t race off the trackwork.
The next thing will be more powerfull powerpack’s since my substitutes are lacking performance…

a little kitbashing, my son-in-law’s mom sent this facade and i made a building out of it…needs some touch up, but the overall effect is OK for someone who is not good at this…

Daan, yuo’ve got a lot of trains and a great floor layout. I’ve got to pull mine up and then get started on the big room layout. Guess I’ll be dictchbank trash for a while. [:D] Just watching and not operating. fjerome, that is a great layout. Good job. Want to get me one of those Lionmaster Bigboys one day. Tom, the hoppers look like the one I have from my 1952 set. Don’t let that engineer get you tonight. [;)]

buckeye, i used flex walls from scenic express and used the seam covers to hide where they joined. i painted them using some stone creations textured spray paint from rustoleum. i was very happy with the way they turned out.

fjerome, thanks. [wow][wow] I use materials from scenic express, especially their ballets. Great web site. I like how it tells the histroy of your layout and the expansion on top of the garage. My layout is in the room above the garage, but a much smaller room.
@choochin, Yes I use Maerklin, but also hornby and Jep. The switches are mostly maerklin, they are solid and relayable, even the electric ones work after 50+ years. The special Z-switches are maerklin also. From Hornby I have the Y switches and trackwork is maerklin, Jep and some lionel. It mixes well and bent-out track is easy to fix. For more, those maerklin and Hornby switches are cheap to get and still plenty on swap meets etc. h0 costs more…
@buckeye, retaining walls can also be made with a handheld hobbytool and MDF. I used it on an N-gauge railway. Simply cut the mdf to the size of the retaining wall, then cut the joints between the stones (not trough, but only surfacial). If you paint it, use a cloth with black paint first and rub the paint also in the joints. After that use white paint and apply with a cloth when the black paint is still wet. It results in random grey stones with blackish joints.
