This old timer has the latest gem from MTH in tow.

The Christmas buying season is in full swing here on the Blueboard Central Division of American Flyer Lines*.* The guys down at the freight station have been very busy unloading box cars and getting things delivered to the local merchants.

I wonder if any of those boxes could be trains to be delivered to Nils Jameson up at Thymely Manor?

I would like to participate however I am not sure how to add pictures because it asks me for a URL. Any adive would be appreciated

Thanks

Adam

Random photos from the Baltimore, Ohio and Wabash Railroad.

kontin your URL is the address of where that particular picture is located for example on Photobucket

and would look something like this

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c372/raymanssr2/Bowling%20Alley/BowlingAlley_8287BW.jpg

in order to have the picture show up here you need to have IMG with brackets before and after it

Welcome Adam !

First off you will need a site where you can upload your photos, such as Shutterfly, Photobucket, etc. Most are free of charge which is really good. This is how I do it and it works for me. Once you have them uploaded to a site of your choice, pull one up in full size and click on properties, when properties are displayed copy the URL. Open the CTT site, open the thread where you wish to post, click on reply, when the reply window opens you will see what appears to be a small tree in the header, click on that icon, a window will open where you can paste the previously copied URL, click enter and the phot should open in the reply area, Click post and you are done.

Like I said this method works for me, there should be a “how to” but forgot where it is posted.

Nice pictures fellas,

Here’s our Christmas train comin out from under the tree:

This is my second layout, and I decided to make it winch to the ceiling due to limited space. It is purposely overbuilt for my accessories’ safety as well as my car’s. Needless to say, I remove the trains before lifting it up.

Adam, Welcome to the forum. Your layout is quite the contraption! The “legs” opposite the winch are a very neat idea. I really like the design. The layout itself looks to be quite fun too.

Is there any safety device to hold it up if the winch fails? I’m picturing the chains going into a hook or something for “just in case”.

Thanks for sharing,

J White

Yes, the chains safety chains, once it is raised, hook on from the ceiling joists to the benchwork and support 300 lbs, and the layout weighs only about 150 lbs. The winch is a 2,200 lb worm drive for a boat, so I think I should be okay if I keep it lubricated. It doesn’t seem to be under much stress while raising either.

Thanks for the friendy welcome,

Adam

Here’s what my layout looked like 50 years ago and again last November.

We got to this last winter:

Here’s a couple from a few days ago. Making progress, but still a lot of fun work ahead.

Adam, welcome. Posting photos can be a pain sometimes. I use Photobucket. Sometimes, like today, using the url posted each photo twice, so I used the direct link. Just click on the green tree icon where you are composing your post here & paste the url, direct link, or whatever you can copy from photobucket that works into your post.

Looking forward to you pix.
