Polar Express Observation Car

One of my river scenes. That water is mighty cold this time of year…

Great pics guys! Thanks for sharing!

Here’s a pic of my old Lego layout that is now in tubs in the basement…

Here are some pics of the recently completed control board. The wiring still needs to be bundled so it’s a rats nest right now.

Pictures will enlarge if you click on the tag above them with the ! in the triangle.

Wiring behind the board:

Side view of control board resting on support arm:

Support arm flush against train table joist. The two bolts hold the arm in place. Notice the notches to fit around the banding board and the “L” girder:

1"x4"x6" uprights used to mount support arms to table joist. These uprights are glued and screwed to the support arms:

Thats a nice control panel!!

Don Baker’s contribution to the car exchange–from sunny California to the Heartlands of America, Iowa. It was a pleasure to receive his car and place it on our layout, great colors and graphics. Thanks Don!

This Chessie freight apparently got “dusted” while holding up in a siding, before heading west over the old WESTERN MARYLAND Keystone Viaduct. The “fried egg” logo on that LNE boxcar is the pride-and-joy of our own jefelctric.

One of my Christmas trains:

We just picked up the Susie-Q from the interchange track, complements of lionroar88, and the Reading Geep is placing it in the yard to await a through freight.

From Deacon Jim Phish:

Man - today’s is a good thread! Great job BIRD!!! Excellent pics, guys - so neat! I wish I had a real layout so I could play this game, but mine little temp loop will be coming down soon for a little while… :frowning:

Sure are some great photos and story lines. I’ve got to really work on coming up with a photogenic location.

Jon, I KNOW that is the best looking layout that car has ever been on. It sure looks good in a GREAT setting. (I’ve down loaded the images and going to print them and have them at the office, hoping it will give me some inspiration.) ALSO, BEFORE YOU SHIP IT OFF, WOULD YOU SIGN IT? WOULD LIKE TO HAVE CITY, STATE, MTH IF YOU CAN !! (Great idea Buckeye). BTW that Charlie Chan sticker was only available for those that attended that convention. It was the first train show that my wife (gf then) attended.

Rich,

The Gon looks great on the flatcar. The picture shows the size difference! Please sign the car with a sharpie type pen. That is a great idea Buckeye had.

Jim

Jim,

I couldn’t just let the gondola just sit there!! It had to make the trip arounf the layout! After the tree gets done, it’ll take a trip with the Polar Express. I’ll sign the gondola for ya no problem!

Rich

CPI - I had thought about having yuz guyz sign my car, but I think I’ll opt out on that this time around…
