Nice photos Tom. What roadname was the 280 originally? It looks like a PRR model. The tender looks like it is off a Lionel engine if I am correct.
Got the new Harley tanker in service not without problems though ! Went to fuel these engines on the right of way & the eng. quit ! So, the mechanic finally got there to, I think the distributor came loose, or it could just be a loose muffler bearing ! [:D][:D]
John, what is behind the GP, It it a Uboat, or a Dash9 or 8?
Taking a break to read the paper, Alex the painter ignores the hustle and bustle around the newly opened filling station. The bright and cheerful colors will make a nice contrast to the otherwise subdued railroad maroons and greens.
Nice pictures Tom & Bruce ! Hope Bruce can make it bigger !
Colin: that’s my Atlas B 40 Dash 8 , very detailed & TMCC & smoke.
Maybe you can get a camera for Christmas, we all can’t wait to see your trains !
Morning all!
Here are some photos I took in August of Denver’s Union Station. This is the right size for a great looking O scale model. It is nice to see that Denver has preserved the station to some degree. It is still served by AmTrak. The Ski Train is parked there in its resplendent Rio Grande colors. Unfortunately there was no way to get closer and no one to talk to about getting permission.
Street side view. In addition to the architectural style, I really like the yellow/orange “Travel by Train” lighted sign on top.
View from down the street a bit.
View from trackside. What makes this a good modelling subject is the fact that the rear of the station is nearly identical to the front. Many stations of this scale and style do not have an architecturally significant rear facade. Note the semi-circular lighted yellow/orange “Union Station” sign on top. The framework exists for the same sign on the front, but the letters must have been taken down.
Platform view.
Interior view. The signs are for “Pullman”, “Tickets”, “Information”, “Telegraph”, and “To Street”. Check out the fluorescent lights at the top of the waiting area benches.
Another interior view. Shows the “To Tracks” sign.
Denvers light rail and downtown bus system stop adjacent to the station. If you get the chance and you are in Denver, go see this station. Lots of great restaurants in this area also.
Have a great d
Nice pics everyone. Tom, is that K Line tank cars NYC ???
Roy , Love the train station pics. Was in Denver in the late 80, and from the pics it looks like some work has been done to it.
Heres my solution to the Semaphore problem. Dale H , another forum member made this up and sent it to me. It will also activate other accessories.
And a new T&P Atlas switcher, they are really smooth and slow.
Enjoy…Tim
Yep, The last one I got for $15.00 a the last train show. The lid on the dome even opens.
Yep on both. [;)]
Christmas layout almost done, need to add the skirt and work out the bugs on this [censored] Nutcracker Gateman.
Here is a photo of the reverse loop I’m working on.
Roy,
My great, great grandfather designed Union Station in Denver, way back in another era. Its a beautiful building, with a couple of restaurants in it. On Saturday nights, LoDo is usually jammed with revelers, and the station’s club is usually packed. Given that Denver has gone out of its way to preserve so much of its history in that part of town, the station has fit in very nicely.

Now I know not to shortcut by clicking on the thumbnail photo…Here’s the previous photo enlarged.

Well, the digital camera wil be coming for Christmas. My sister is getting one, but I will be able to use it as well. The great thing is I do not have to give her anything in return.
John, that is a very nice engine. I wish I could get one. This Christmas is not going well because the things I want are either not in stock, or they are gone completely. I wanted an Aristo Craft Dash9 and the set of roadrailers. Not in stock. I said if that was not in stock, I would like the Pacemaker set. Well, as my luck would have it, they sold the last one yesterday. I am so mad, and now I am looking for things that I like.
Well, we’re making some progress ! As soon as we get the cab filled up for the stove, this crew might get something done today ! We got the truck running finally, & yes it was the muffler bearing ! Good thing they had one !! [:D]
Tmcc man: that’s good you’ll have access to a camera ! [:)]
Boy some more great pics. today, & really like Bruces’ gas station as well !!

Hey Buckeye - nice effect. I assume those lights are under the cotton batting?
Nice photos everyone!
I usually post pre-war wind-up, Marx, Flyer, but couldn’t resist the deal on this K-line set off of e-bay ($125.00 engine , 3 cars, transformer, new in the box). Really nice set for under the tree this year, even has Railsounds.
