Here is a snick peak look a Lionel’s new Vision line

and her is a video of a prototype engine with Vision features added to it. This engine is an older engine that was retrofitted with the new features.

Watch the bell ringing and the steam from the whitles and steam from the firebox blow down.

Boy that 2-10-10-2 sure looks nice!

Here are a couple CPI photos of the 9678 car originating from CA.

Here’s the secret behind the SJ videos. That’s right, post war!

Blessed Sunday to you All,

This is especially for RockIsland52 today.

Jack,

I thought you might like to see what the Northwoods Hiawatha looks like as it pulls into Wausau from Minocqua on its way to New Lisbon, with connections on into Chicago. While you and I are both too young to have seen the last run of this streamlined beauty through here in 1947, the “Northwoods Hi” is still active here on the Blueboard Central Division of American Flyer Lines.

Can’t you imagine this beauty hitting 100 mph through the farmland of Wisconsin.

Good morning from the Balitmore, Ohio and Wabash Railroad, where the SHARKS are running loose.

Kurt,

Thanks for protecting that car from all the snow, it has never seen any before. Sure like your layout! It probably is reluctant to leave.

Thanks,

Don

EDIT: Hey that’s really Great, One more layout ! Its really terrific that you guys get together! A huge benefit of the forum! Boy I sure that car will be disappointed when it gets back home!

Don, Kurt took that picture on S.J. rails. It had lost it’s way.

My layout. Mostly Lionel Postwar 027.

David: Beautiful! Wish my postwar cars were as clean. I like that wire fence. Nice layout.

Good Morning All:

After seeing some of the incredible work posted, I finally decided to attempt a scratch build project. The results show that I need a lot of additional practice. Despite the outcome, I had a blast making it and can’t wait to start another project.

I needed a bridge on my outer loop:

Another girder bridge would not work because there is not enough room coming out of the curve. Driving around our neighborhood, I spotted this:

From that picture, I came up with this:

The good news is that the girder bridge will block the view of my new bridge from most angles. After making the bridge, I have a new appreciation for the scratch building abilities of the people on the forum.

John

Here is my C&O Berkshire #2699 (former Pere Marquette #1215) posing on my new layout.

John have you given any thought to maybe turning the black bridge over (yes you will have to make canal wider ) and then putting your gaurd rails on the now top use to be bottom and then your track between them. it would give you gaurd rails more umph and as you paint you will also get more real looking and it will improve what you have done. What you have is already looking good but as stated it will start looking better with color added as you go and add your grass and bushes and all. Keep up the good work I have great ideas my self but being able to do it may be another thing as I haven’t tried yet.

RT:

Thanks for the feedback. I had thought about making the waterway a little wider. However, since my layout is small (6’x9’), I want to maximize the variety of scenery. I am hopeful that once I add water and landscape around the bridge, it will be more prominent.

Regards,

John

David, I have the same Soo engine #8569. I am planning on converting the rear coupler to a working version. Also intend to add both lighting and windows to the cab. Also, will add weight to the engine to give it more traction. Have you done any modifications?

All the photos were great to look at. Thanks for posting everyone.

Dennis

Started a new project. Converting a Lionel Grain Elevator to look more like a Coal Tipple.

Kurt

Here’s how it started:

I needed to remove a few ‘unnecessary’ pieces. [:O]

Dennis, yes, I have added 2 warm white LED’s for a head and taillight. My layout includes a steep incline and I have been testing whether adding weight will help traction going upgrade and it does. I have added several ounces toward the middle of the frame so far but would like to add additional weight over the powered truck. I plan on making a form and melting lead into a very precise shape (since space is limited. Since the cab has lots of windows and is very visible, I have added a floor, firewall and engineer. The rear tail light also adds some light inside the cab, so the interior and engineer are even more visible. I haven’t added clear windows, but that’s a good idea. How are you going about adding an operating coupler? I would like to do that too, especially since this is a switcher engine.

Great photos everyone!

I’m way outclassed on this forum (whose content I enjoy very much), but what the heck:!(http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/<a%20href="http://s294.photobucket.com/albums/mm104/foxeyone/Layout%20Itch/?action=view&current=IMG_0487-1.jpg" target=“_blank”>Photobucket)

Opps, double photo; caption should have been: ‘Low-rail Express freight’.

Next one is captioned ‘Garden Railway GG1’; if it posts:!(http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/<a%20href="http://s294.photobucket.com/albums/mm104/foxeyone/trains/?action=view&current=IMG_0499.jpg" target=“_blank”>Garden Railway GG1)
