Here is a Lionel 318 Standard Gage

and MTH

Nice! I think if I were to start buying trains all over again I would take a hard look at standard gauge, there’s just something about it that intrigues me. Thanks Tom.

The club has announced their annual spring cook-out at the museum this month. It appears that word has spread “Free Food”, which has resulted in some rather strange arrivals on inbound empty box cars.

These two I would definitely watch out for:

These two appear to be kinda cute & cuddly but if they have been ridin’ the rails for awhile they could be a little gamey if you are downwind:

This guy you definitely don’t want to be to close to, believe he’s been out of the water far to long:

Have fun but play safe.

A week late, but still wanted to share some of Bruce’s, Tom’s and my railfanning fun from last Saturday.

Point of Rocks, MD
The old station looks mighty fine these days:

Here comes a CSX coal train headed for Frederick, MD:

WHOA! She’s close!

Bruce and Brent survived that encounter:

And just a few minutes later an Ash train passed on the other side:

Brunswick, MD
The Capital Limited was only 3 hours late today!

The station looks nice with the Spring Blooms out:

Waiting to move out!

A few pics from Susie-Q’s and my trip up the Potomac yesterday:

Just below Harper’s Ferry, MD

Susie-Q enjoying the running water… guess where we headed next?

Tunnel portal to the west of Harper’s Ferry:

I missed a CSX mixed freight just below Harper’s Ferry, wouldn’t have mattered much because someone forgot the telephoto lens again! [:-^][sigh]

88 -…good to know your camera still functions…

Even if the operator has some memory loss issues ! [:-^] [swg]

HUH??? [%-)]

Layout progress…Slow but sure…

Kurt

Is Pt of Rocks station open? Can you go inside?

Nice curve on that table, Kurt.

Now you’ve done it, Doug, my youngest wanted to open the doors on all our boxcars to see who’s inside. He’s looking for Mickey or dinosaurs.

cnw1995 - PT of ROCKS is used by CSX MOW employees. MARC has built pretty little train shelters for the commuters to use, thus eliminating the need for people to go inside the main station. It is a very busy place on weekdays.

Kpolak,

Looks interesting, and a little different from the norm…

Wes

Now if that were ever de-commissioned would that be the wildest residential conversion or what !

Better yet, make it a B&B for train nuts. [tup]

here is mine:

A hand made brass mail catcher.

tha cars is not a mail car but help me to figure out the size.

Andre.

Great stuff, everyone! Love that Std Gauge and the mail catcher and all, but I really like that curved layout, very sharp work! Love those toy-guys in the boxcars, too. Those railfans were having some fun! [tup][tup]

Doug,
They would have to move it. It is in the middle of a diamond consisting of 2 tracks on each leg, while we were there a loaded coal train went by and shook the ground a great bit… I can only imaging trying to get a good night sleep in there!

Thats awsome! \

Alex

Years ago, I camped at the track-side campground at Brunswick. Did not sleep all night.

Great photos again with interesting stories. Brent…If your wardrobe consists of just Penn State apparel, I might be able to round up some Scarlet and Gray clothing from Good Will for you. [(-D]

[#dots] Actually this is one of 5 PSU items I own:

T-Shirt
Long Sleeve T-Shirt
Sweatshirt
Hockey Jersey
Jacket

The jacket was a B-Day gift from my older sister. It looks like the jackets worn by the athletes. I was wearing it over the hockey jersey a couple weeks ago and was asked if I played for the hockey team. I told him ‘no’, and he said, ‘that sucks. I want to play for them when I go to school there but wasn’t sure how to get on the squad.’ Gave him some info, and informed him that they aren’t an NCAA team, just a ‘club’ so you can’t get scholarships or anything like that. He said, ‘I got that covered through education grants.’ Good kid.
