Hard times have fallen on our town. There has been a slow down in demand for widgets. Many folks could see it coming but the demand for widgets in the Asian markets kept production strong for a long time. Then even the Asian markets began to slow down. The biggest employer in town, Wausau Widgets has been almost silent for the last few weeks.
Nils Jameson, the owner and CEO of Wausau Widgets, decided that it was time to diversify. Being a resourceful and inventive kind of guy he decided to produce another product in the Widget factory that would keep people employed until the Widget market improved. There had been lots of talk about what the new product would be. The Old Guys at the coffee shop were sure it was some kind of atomic powered version of the Widget. The women at the beauty parlor seemed to think that it was some kind of labor saving device to help pluck chickens. Only a handful of employees were working on the new assembly line and they were sworn to secrecy. Then about the middle of the week a truck pulled up to the store house at the Wausau Widgets compound. They loaded something quickly, and took it to the freight station.
Good story Woods.
These fellows are speculating on teh markets for light bulbs bigger than they are.
