Sunday Photo Fun 6-20-04

I know I know it’s early but too much fun and inspiration can be had on this type of thread Here is the Rocks Big Boy I finally got some decals on. Can’t wait to see everyone’s pictures.

Getting a Jump on SPF, eh? Here is one that I call “Fallen Flags”.

Here’s a shot of one of the finished portions of my layout:

I started to overhaul two old Bachmann E60CF. They will get Black Mesa and Lake Powell Paintschemes soon…

Great shot, flyingscot ! How did you get the blue fog effect? Makes a wonderful atmospheric effect.

It was the result of a little overexposure, I’ll have to dig out my notes for the exact time, but I think it was 2 seconds with natural sunlight at about 4:00 pm.

Everyone’s Pictures are great. I can’t wait until I get some good picks of my work to show.

Good looking stuff Guys! .

This week I don’t have any modeling to show but I did convert an AXT PC power supply to a nifty MRR power supply using a link that Bill Nanney sent and a donated PS:

Here’s the PS before any “conversion”.

Here is is after I cut all the wires out [:P] except the ones I needed. It’s ready to put back together now. I took the board out to get access to the wires that needed cutting off at the board and to put the load resistor inside the case.

Here’s the finished product with an On/Of switch, a 3.3 VDC terminal, a 5VDC terminal and a 12VDC terminal, each with a ground for convenience. The PS was not exactly like the one in the link and I had to move the on/off switch to clear a board.

Note the load resistor tied to the grill with wire ties. I use the heat-sink compound as recommended and it stays cool.

Now I need to label the terminals so I won’t fry anything.[nono]

I plan to run feeders to terminal strips around the layout wherever I need a particular voltage (12v for Tortoise, 3.3v for LEDs, 5v for occupancy detectors, etc.)

I didn’t have to redo too many things during the project and I think that it came out nice.[^]

Here’s the link.

I never would have thought of this nice conversion myself. Thanks Bill!

Nice pics one and all.

Jeremy the Rock Big Boy…well rocks…and Micha the E60s are gonna be great.

Never would have though about a PC power supply…but then again I have had enough problems just getting them to power my PC.

The Maritime paint shops remain closed yet another week due to increased pressure from the CFO to complete the 1:1 scale retaining wall and fence. Seems I can’t even get one project done for she comes up with another hairbrained…(did I say that out loud???) …I mean home improvement idea…

Yes dharmon, you did say that out loud![:D]

Noah

WHY DID YOU PUT THE ROCK ON A BIG BOY? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I love the fog effect in flyingscot’s picture. Great shot.
