Love this signal bridge…
Chuck - It’s a real nice attraction to your layout. Congrats!
Nice job CHUCK.
Here’s a video of the NPR 765 going over the Rockville bridge at noon today.

Cool video LAZ,
Now I know what you are saying about. "There’s a race of men that don’t fit in, A race that can’t stay still" [(-D]
Work crews have finally finished construction on the Mobilgas oil derrick and homemade tank farm.
Sunoco oil derrick is now a Mobilgas derrick.
Tried everything I can think of but can not get photos, from Shutterfly, to load. [banghead]

The switching yard of the Roseyville Division of the NS is busy building trains. Engines waiting for the consist.
Great job guys.
Laz great video
And yes guys all the pics are great too.
Doug, I use Shutterfly and what I do is open the picture up in Shutterfly and right click on it and copy. Then just paste it into the window below your text… Like I did above.

Why was there a diesel and a steam engine on the same consist?
AF 1963,
Although the NPR 765 is certified to travel the main line, there is the probability of a break down being of the age and all of the steam engine. The diesel is the NPR Heritage SD 70 that will act as its back up, it doesn’t run, incase anything happens to the 765. They don’t want to tie up the main line with a broken engine sitting there. It is brought along and pulled by the steamer, even going around Horseshoe Curve the steamer did all the pulling by it self and that is graded at 1.75%. Pretty steep as far as pulling power. They do this even with the UP FEF out in the western part of the country too.

Also the diesel can provide dynamic braking for downhill operation. In the steam days the brakes would be set and the engine would pull the train downhill generating a lot of heat in the wheels ( not to mention the smoke from the applied brakes ). Overheated wheels can lead to broken wheels and the threat of a derailment. The diesel can retard the train ( kind of like an automobile under compression ) using its dynamic brake. Therefore less brake pipe pressure is necessary and the wheels stay cooler and generate less smoke.
