Well, I thought this was pretty amazing
Final shots from Christmas layout, 2003. Well, maybe 
the ‘plateau’ area with some buildings that I scratch-built
One of my all-time favorite pictures. Each stack represents the empty boxes from each of the trains that they make up on the layout, from engine box on bottom to caboose box on top
I’ll continue my new tradition by posting my hand drawn sketch of the track. The 2nd one shows step 2: placing all of the buildings and electricity-using “things” so that I can follow that by planning the wiring:

Here something about my old layout.
Lionel Trains found at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (formerly known as the National Bureau of Standards) Gaithersburg, Maryland.
In the case with the train wreck are standard reference materials (like different iron and steel alloys) used by foundries to calibrate their methods of analyzing iron and steel.
The plaque reads, in part, “Railroad trains increased the speed of overland transport by an order of magnitude (i.e., times ten) but not without the cost of many lives due to material failures. The first passenger fatality occurred in 1883, near Heightstown, NJ. Preventing future loss of lives was an urgent need. In 1905, the American Foundrymen’s Association approached the Bureau of Standards (NBS, now NIST) to see if (they could help.)”

Nice pictures everyone, I tried to put some on yesterday & it blew the borders all out. Here is some from our live steam outing yesterday.
Everyone, nice pics. John, i remember going to one 3 years ago. They had live diesel, and steam. They had a Frisco 484, and it was huge. It was an hour from me, and it was a nice day to hang out there. They had a lot of different trains, and i was always on the D&H RS3
