Newly acquired authentic post war New Haven 2242 A-B:
Since it is STILL Sunday here on the Left Coast, and I got off work early, thought I would throw in a contribution.
First, I would like to compliment the previous posts,
Tom, (Spankybird) - If there was an award for SPF you DEFINETLY, deserve 1st Place! Your photos are ALWAYS, appropriate to the current occassion. And, I never tire from your layout. You’re one of the reasons I always check SPF.
Bill, (Seayakbill) - Another fantastic photo expose of your layout. I hope some day mine may look as good. Enjoy the theme train!
Jim, (Sturgeon-Phish) - Everytime I look at your photos, I think of the AF, I gave away. (Missouri Pacific ABA), and others. I admire your work and efforts on the AF. They were WAY ahead of their time. The photos are fantastic!-
Laz, (Laz, (I know your name but won’t use it)), - Hey, old photos are great, I’m going to post some. At least you posted, better than I normally do. I saw my first Coal Tipple this week, they are great. Saw one that was mounted so that the track was surface level. Very Interesting.
Ray, (Raymans), Ray, I have one complaint! You didn’t post enough photos! Really nice work, and good on the camera too!
Sarge, (Sarge-RMB), Sarge please see Ray’s comment above! Same thing applies. The detail and backgrounds are really fantastic. Good job!
Marty, (MartyE), You’re probably floating around the country someplace. I don’t know when you have the time to do anything on your layout! Still like the progress! (My offer still stands when your in LA). Oh yeah, I
Thank you. The A-B New Haven is an original post war set which was sold into my local hobby shop on Saturday morning. I bought it Saturday afternoon. Cosmetically it is in 'like new" or better condition. It was a one year only issue in 1958 and I have been trying to find one for almost five years. This is the first one I have ever seen, let along had the opportunity to purchase and it just stumbled into my local shop.
Here’s a few shots of the various Plasticville and K-Line buildings on my layout. I recently replaced a K-Line Factory with the Plasticville Independence Hall, and am now thinking about swapping out quite a few buildings. I took these photos so if I don’t like the way things end up, I can return the layout back to the way it is now.
Have a great week,
J White
Don - Thanks very much. I always enjoy your captions to the CTT cars. The gon never looked better!
J White - Plasticville lives on!!!

Great pictures guys, it is always interesting to see the focus of each persons layout or collection.
Here are several shots of the blacksmith and anvil I brought back from the SQUASH-A-PENNY in Doswell, VA. “ENGLAND” is molded on the base of the man, and along the top side of the anvil. At the base of the anvil is “COPYRT”. The set is slightly larger than traditional 54mm Britains. It is metal, but doesn’t have the “heft” of lead figures. Anyone know of its possible origin?
Not sure Fife, but you may want to check Barclay? Seem to be most popular from what I’ve seen.

dwiemer - Thanks for the lead. My blacksmith isn’t from BARCLAY, but through the various sites, I discovered a lot of my old metal figures are. Some more twists and turns helped my find the John Hill & Company collection, from which the blacksmith and anvil are from. During their hay-day, John Hill & Co were second only to Britains in England.
