Sunday Photo Fun: Aug. 20, 2006

A few pictures of my latest loco addition, a PRR BB1.

here’s my first post to the photo sunday fun its not much but its a picture of my trains on the one mainline i have up and running. hope you enjoy. the first is my sd80mac pulling 15 gunderson twin stacks

the next is the same pulling 15 die cast 2 bay hoppers

enjoy

Reggie,

I love unit trains. You have the containers for the Gundersons?

===================

The wood water tower on the previous page was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Reggie, thats some really good magnetraction on that train in the first photo[:D]

Great pictures all,

Reggie, Nice to see you have made some real progress on your layout. Only problem is I had to turn my monitor on it’s side to see the first picture.[:D]

Those 15 diecast hoppers must be a pretty good load, at least it looks like level going, no big hills.

It looks like you have your fast track attached right to the plywood, how is the noise level?

John, those BBs look fantastic. Congratulations on a nice addition

Frank, I noticed how carefully you’re fitting the backdrops into the corner. V. nice work.

fj and g: i love them too as you can tell and no i dont have the containers as they cost $25 a pop. i think tahts a little to much but i will eventually get them.

zwbob: well i’ve hooked all of those cars the gunderson and the 2 bay hoppers on the one train and that sd80mac has no problem pulling all of those cars at once. so you can say that the magnitraction is great. well i hope you mean that the wheels get their traction through some type of magnetic draw from the wheels. if so let me tell you that the engine tires have 2 rubber wheels on each truck to help with traction

jefelectric: sorry for making you turn your computer to a different angle thats the only way i could get that whole train in the picture at once. well the gundersons are die cast too and they actually weigh more than the 2 bay hoppers. and yes the whole layout has no hills as of now so the train is running on a level surface all the way around the layout. the noise level is to where you can tolerate it its not that loud unless i have the train running at full blast and if i do have it at full blast you can still hear the whistle and horn over the noise with the volume level of the train at its lowest. plus i like the sound it gives the feel that something massive is coming and passing by as you get the feeling of a real train passing by.

You might be able to make the containers yourself out of resin casting. Getting to master mold right would be the challenge. Then you could make a bunch of copies

where do you get this resin casting i might try and make one to see how it goes/comes out. i new in this hobby as to making things out of scratch much less building a layout for the first time and it being the size of mine. i didnt know what i was getting myself into until a started building this thing.

great pictures everyone.

Well said. Thats what its all about. Something you only get in O gauge.

Reggie,

Michaels sells casting resin. You don’t need a particular brand. This site shows you how:

Dgraham, Thanks for the info!! I’ve taken apart my MTH water tower to use as a guide for one I’m going to attempt to scratch build. I’ll keep you posted as I progress. If it fails, then at least I have this fella’s address!!![(-D][:D]

David, It’s just one outdoor loop for now. Not much outdoor train running with the heat index running at 105 degrees!!! [:O] We get more enjoyment out of it around late Fall.[:)]

Man, NS and CN. Exactly like mine. Great job. I’ll be running NS on the lower level and CN on the upper [with some interchange mix]. Why CN up on upper level? Canada is up North [even though they now get to NO]. [;)]

Chief, You could put a middle layer between NS and the Canadians. You could have the tracks just dead end and run some gang car, just call in the Yankee Road to Nowhere Line. [B)] Or you could leave the rails barren and rusted, and just tell everyone that it’s the yankee line and doesn’t work.

Dennis

those are my 2 favorite lines with cn slowly but surely beginning to be my favorite. if not misstaking is ns your favorite. i have 4 ns sd80macs and 2 cn dash 9’s cant find any more cn’s to add to my line up but there are some sd 40-2’s i hope i got the name right coming out in feb of 07 will purchase at least 2 and the dummy for the birth of my child thats due on feb 6 of 07. why is ns your favorite and then why is cn your next favorite. also what is locomotive lineup if you dont mind sharing.

Hey - congratulations Reggie! Life won’t ever be the same once your son or daughter shows up!

Great pics guys!
