- New for 1998 the No. 10-1078 four car (STATE-SET) bumped the (ILLINOIS) car to separate sale and replaced it with the new (MARYLAND), a (SOLARIUM) car with dining areas and a kitchen.
- The No. 441 joined the line of reproductions as the No. 10-1069 (WEIGH) Scale in 1998.
- The 4-4-4 wheel arrangement of the classic (FOUR-HUNDRED-E) wore (BLUE) (COMET) blue and red once again as the No. 10-1112. Available in 1999 with either a (TRADITIONAL) style (BILD-A-LOCO) motor with an E-Unit, or with (CONTEMPORARY) electronics, it pulled four car set No. 10-1114 which added (HALLEY) to the original three comet names.
