Sunset Models - access to decoder plug

Hello, does anyone have any experience installing a decoder in a HO scale Sunset Model steam locomotive?

I have recently purchased a 4-8-4 Northern, without sound - and understand that there is a factory dcc plug in the locomotive.

I have no idea how to access the plug.

There are no instructions from Sunset, and I don’t want to star removing things on a hit and miss basis.

I was thinking the screws that hold the front and rear trailers may be the same screws that hold the boiler to the running gear - but I am to much of a wuss to remove them.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks…

The Decoder and speakers,should be in the tender,not the Loco…

I have to agree, the decoder, speaker etc. will be located in the tender. The tender body will be held in place by as few as 2 screws and as many as 4. It doesn’t matter how many, but they will be located in the corners, or on the centerline of the tender frame. They will not be the truck screws.
