Makes me drool, sad to hear about the 18" radius problem, I guess it’s not going to run on my layout, I don’t think I can even afford it!
Some steamers look so pretty in brass it’s almost a shame to paint them. This Hudson is no exception.

The Westside Japanese (Microcsat-Mizuno) model of the J-1e from the 70’s is also beautiful, runs well, and negotiates an 18" curve, although I keep mine in a plexiglass case. Look for it to show up periodically on eBay.
But… look how the crosshead is ‘derailed’!
