I was fortunate enough yesterday to have time to photograph trains. It was a beautiful day on the Puget Sound and there were plenty of trains. As evening approached, I could see the clouds were setting up to display a gorgeous sunset. In the midst of capturing it and as I was hoping, Cascades 509 showed up. See what the passengers on aboard saw:
Thanks for all the nice comments. It’s amazing what can happen when your best laid plans go wrong. I set up under the bridge with the intent of getting a north bound to provide a light streak across the bridge with the sunset as a backdrop. The next NB should have been there long before the Cascades train. One detail I overlooked, the NB was a local and it had work south of that location. The Cascades arrived faster than I figured, but not so soon that I wasn’t able to reposition in time to capture what was a much better image.
This was the second time that day that I caught this trainset. The freight unit appears to be filling in for the cab car (or cabage car), as the F59 on the other end was definately under power. In this shot, the train is southbound, so it’s a going away shot.
