"Super O" Layouts? Planning One? Like to know more about?

Anyone on the forum running “Super O” track? Looking for others with the same interest? Check out the 2 links below.

The Yahoo Group has over 300 members all with a focus on “Super O”! Just linked a copy of the complete 1957 Lionel Catalogue in which “Super O” was introduced…all 44 pages. Check out the site.

All issues can be addressed. Pictures of Display layouts and member layouts as well.

I’m not familiar with teh term “Super O” - what’s the difference between “0” and "Super “0”?

^^^ super 0 is a short lived type of track Lionel introduced back int he 50’s i think …

it has plastic ties and i think the center rail is thin copper… is this right guys???

Its also mighty expensive these days

It is an interesting ‘note’ in toy train history. Correct, it is not inexpensive but really not to out of line for most items.

marx2002. all I run is super “o”. it’s low profile,same height as O-27 track,but has a “T” shape profile. just like the real thing. It comes on 36" radius,as oposed to lionel’s O-31.Twelve curved sections mage a full circle.Everthing you could do with Ogauge you could do with super O. all components were made,i.e. uncoupler tracks and so forth. My oponion it’s the best track ever made,looks great! You can find it at swap meets,great american train shows,greenberg,etc. cost a little more,but worth it.

“Super O” was introduced in 1957 and was offered through 1966. Had a 9 year run. All tooling is still sitting at Lionel…
