Hi from this side of the pond [:)], I was in So.Cal in 2004 and I saw a Surfliner consist with a Superliner I Coach/Baggage in phave 4 livery within the consist.
Does this happen regularly and if so, what Superliner Coaches are used?

This happens durring times when passneger traffic is up, and less Surfliner/California Cars are available. It’s a fairly common practice. The cars used are typicaly Superliner I Coach/Baggage Cars or Superliner I “Snack Cars” which are rebuilt smoking coaches. The top has regular coach seats and the bottom is where the “diner” is.
This happens not only on the Surfliner, but also the other two state funded California trains, the Capital Corridor and the San Joaquin.
