This is great news in moving toward the 110 MPH service across the rest of lower Michigan!

With that action, and considering Michigan had a highly successful pilot run for a night train on this corridor a couple years ago, the Wolverine corridor desrves to have a fourth frequency with either the Lake Shore or Capitol Limitedrerouted that way at night, once the project is finished and all of the Viewliner II cars are rolling. It doesn’t make sense to run two long-distance trains on the same route at night about an hour or so apart from each other between Chciago and Toledo. I’m sure the quicker routing on the Wolverine corridor will make up for the slow running time between Detroit and Toledo, plus it would give Cleveland a train at more decent daylight hours, too.
The line from Baron to Gord is trackage rights on the CN (ex GTW) and is therefore not part of the acquisition. Glad it wasn’t contested!
