Transload containers?
Transload, also, contents of cars loaded with stuff: plastic pellets, fluids with unpronounceable names and lethal- capabilities, lumber, pressed-wood.
Transload has become the synonym for “team track.”
From frt train cars to consignee’s trucks, build facilities both to transfer containers to trucks/frt cars and vice-versa, frt cars to trucks.
Wasting investment or eminent domaine, no…go for it.

Another scheme that is full of crony capitalism. Has anybody considered the location? I-81 is a very poor excuse of a road. But for that matter, so is every other road in the state. Plus there is little industry in that area. Existing intermodal facilities are in Syracuse built by the private sector. Odds are, the private sector truck drivers hauling containers will continue to use Syracuse.

I have a suspicion that the Cortland Spur Line mentioned might be the last little stub of the line to Cincinnatus that was abandoned in 1961. It began life about 1898 as the Erie & Central New York Railroad, and became part of the D.L.& W. in about 1907.

Does this mean some dormant sections or Susie-Q’s upstate trackage will be reactivated ?
