SW8 Time era?

I just pre-ordered a LL SW8 NKP and a BLI SW7 NYC both with sound. Due in Dec 05??? I have heard that the BLI run might not be sufficient to fill all orders. I really want a sound Switcher so I ordered both and hopefully will end up with two sound switchers. My question is what time era was the SW8 built/used in? I model the 50’s NYC. I am not a real stickler for prototypicality(sp) but still would like to know. Tks for your info. By the way these were an early B-day gift from my other 2/3rds. She may think this RR stuff is a waste of time and money but she stills supports my hobby. I am a lucky guy for sure! I get a kick out of her facial expressions when she ventures into the trainroom. Almost like a shrink looking at her patient???

According to the link below SW-8 were built 9/50-1/54

The SW8s were manufactured from 1950 to 1954. Over 300 were built. Many would have been in use for quite some time on into the 70s or even later I would think. As for the NYC the 50’s is probably a sure thing bet but you might check some NYC locomotive rosters to find how long they were in service. Bruce

DSchmitt - Thanks didn’ mean for you to go to such lengths for the info. But I do appreciate it, thank you for your time. Wooooo Wooooo! Fits right into my 50’s layout. Not that I would give it away if it didn’t.
Off Topic - The TD is now a TS and named WIlma. The US is now tied for the most storms in a season since Noah was a kid. One more named storm and they have to go to the Greek Alphabet… Living in the Florida Keys we have to keep up on these things.

bwftex - Thanks for the info I didn’t see your response before I wrote the other. I appreciate your help. Sounds like my NYC has another switcher in NKP garb.
