Thats a nice looking kit. I’m not sure you SHOULD paint it. The suspension castings are really nice.

If properly painted it shouldnt affect the detail. In fact, if painted and weathered properly, the details will POP out!

Before you paint it, take some really high-quality photos. You could print up an 8X10 (inches, standard US full-page photo size) and frame it, and hang it on your trainroom wall. If you did several of your brass models against a dark background (black velvet?) it would make a nice wall display.

Now, about those beets – Are these wagons used only for beets, or is that just a generic name used for wagons of this type? When were (are) these in use on the prototype railroad?
