Just out of the NMRA. Please don’t let that be a mistype for the Shay… I Want one.
EDIT: Nope, Bachmann confirmed it. A bit pricey MSRP, maybe they’ll be cheaper at Trainworld or similar.

Never thought that there is a three-truck Climax around! Well, you´re never too old to learn!
But what really shocked me, are the prices Bachmann is asking for their new products.
$ 445 for a 4-4-0 with DCC/sound? Welcome to European prices!
I wonder if it will come with bad gears
Harold
Didja also notice the return of the CityScenes buildings?
Yes, and I also noticed the GP9.
And just think, they’re made in China!!
Oh well, take out the lower priced lines and you can then say the sky is the limit
Good lord that is expensive. What is up with the increasing prices and delayed shipping from China. They might as well bring it back here. At least we’ll get the products faster, and quality control will go up too.
I wonder if the price increase is a reflection of the currency values of China set to rise against the dollar, and the dollar being weak. If so, maybe we will see a shift in origin on the major mfgs plants to Mexico.
Sure enough did!!![tup]
And the B&O GP-9!! That’ll look good pulling B&O heavey weights.
I’d rather they would re-issue the two-truck Climax with gears that worked. It was a great dissapointment to have the 2-trucks die. There were very few 3-truck Climaxes made (of 1035 Climax locomotives, 18% were Class A, 65% were Class B, and 17% were Class C).
Correct the problems with the Class B. It had to be an embarassment to Bachmann to have such a troublesome product. Using the same other dies and patterns is fine, but use brass gears or something durable. Re-make the Class B so that it will run and I’ll buy a couple of them.

Just took a look at that NMRA flyer. Is it just me, or is the On30 stuff (Porter, 2-4-2 tank, etc.) actually cheaper than the HO scale models - by about half the price? The only explanation I can think of for this is that someone got the prices the wrong way around and it wasn’t proofread properly.
Which railroads really used these monsters? I don’t think anyone in the Sierras ran one, so I won’t have to buy one for my Oakhurst Railroad.
I almost bought the 2-truck Climax a couple of years back, it was just so cute. But I didn’t, and with the infamous gear problems I glad I didn’t.
I’ll pass, but maybe a couple of years from now, when the price is down, maybe I’ll grab one on E-bay …
