Having spent some time in Switzerland, I can tell you that the old joke about the Swiss INVENTING the Alps so they’d have someplace to run their trains is absolutely true. Pretty spectacular railroading over there.

I couldn’t resist including a photo of my favorite electric loco: the Swiss Crocodile. The scene is from my old layout and is in no way meant to be prototypical. I’ve had this model since I was 9 years old… It is so massive that it vibrated things to the point where it shook the details off of stuff when I used to run it on the layout.

You too? I slapped a Kadee on one end of my Crocodile and put it to work on a reefer consist. Little devil hauls like a Mack Truck and sure raises eyebrows when I bring it out. Neat loco. Got a chance to see a real one at one of the museums in Switzerland (Luzern) and they’re really kind of massive looking. Handsome devils!
