Switch machines from Hoffman

Any opinions on these switch Machines? It is on the market from Hoffman in Germany. It is cheaper than the Tortoise and easier to package under the layout as it requires only about 1.5in. Anybody used these items yet? Any good?

For more information on this switch machine see website www.aspenmodels.com

I’m using them since some years and I’m very satisfied.
Here in Germany they are the best available low cost switch machines run with a motor for slow movement.

Very Inpressed with the information. May have to try them in the States since the Tortise is out of sight and the Atlas is iffy at best.
Take Care

I think I need to get one to experiment with. I just an’t quite figure out how they can make them so cheap - especially since exchange rates with Europe aren’t greta right now - hence the crazy price of the Peco Code 83 track - sorry, I’ll never be able to afford my layout if I use those, I’ll stick with Atlas and Walthers. The price problem with the Tortoise is that they are still 100% made in the USA. Great for the couple of people they employ to build the things, but if they molded and assembled them elsewhere, the could probably cut the price in half.

I have been saying this for years, and the above quote is true. I love products that are produced in the good ol USA, but the high prices are catching up with us. just take a look at the automakers and steel companies. a darn shame when fartmart takes over as the #1 corporation, o well, just my .02

It IS possible to still do injection molding for reasonable prices - witness Rix Productcts - but the I think the only reason Rick is able to keep is prices down is because the model stuff is only a small sideline to his primary injection molding business. He’s got quite a nice shop, there are pictures of it on the Rix web site
