Do switch stands taller than people look good on model train layouts.
Just so they’re not too much taller.[:)]

On the railroad I model, the Santa Fe, the standard height for the mast of a high Star-brand switch stand was 7 feet above the headblocks. (The headblocks are the long switch ties where the switch stand is mounted.) The lantern on top of the mast added another foot or so, making the whole thing taller than most of the people I know. Many other roads used similar switch stands.
