I went with the Tortoise switch machines. The tortoise machine gives you the ability to automatically power the frog when it switches. With the switch machine you are looking at from Micro Mark you don’t have that option.
Discount Trains Online has the tortoise for $14.21, a little less expensive than the switch from Micro Mark.

Thanks for the discount trains tip.
Question: an one tortoise power a cross-over, or do you need two?
$14.50 without contacts is a bit much. Since the price is the same, I’d go with a Torti.
I’ve found the Rix machines with contacts for around $8. I don’t need slow mo but I would like contacts.
Thanks for the discount trains tip.

Short answer is you need two, unless you can come up with a mechanical contraption to throw both turnouts simultaneously.
However, if you decide to use a turnout decoder to power the Tortoises, one output from a decoder such as the NCE Switch-It will operate two Tortoise machines.
