anyone, i have a bachmann / spectrum 0-6-0 saddel tank switcher , can’t find info on it. did the b&o use this type or does anyone know it’s a real prototype or not. anything would be appreciated.
The Bachmann 0-6-0T is a model of an Alco `Catalog,’ loco built in 1910 for industrial service. Prototype drawing is #9 in Model Railroader Cyclopedia - Voume 1, STEAM LOCOMOTIVES.
A catalog loco was one found in the company catalog, built to a standard design rather than customized for the individual owner. The drawing shows it lettered for the Leetonia and Cherry Valley Railroad Company. The caption said that it went to a coal mining operation in Eastern Ohio.
The best-known B&O tank switcher is the 0-4-0T Dockside, currently marketed (in a toy-feature version) by Life-Like/Walthers. It has been on the market, built by various manufacturers, for at least 70 years!

tomikawaTT, I think you’re right; it’s gotta be at least 70 years. That was an old pre-war Varney design if I’m not mistaken.
thanks a lot
