Switching couplers to Kadee? Got clones? How about something to do with them!

I can’t claim this, but a guy at the club (teen even, we are good for something!) came up with a really good idea and I had to share it with you. So here goes. Note, I reccomend this only for the plastic couplers, you’ll see why.

  1. Take a few of your clone couplers, and shove a piece of dowel rod through the screwhole. This is a paint holder,
  2. paint your coupler in whatever safety color the RR is using, be it yellow, white, a neon green, orange, etc.
  3. now, push the knuckle shut until it pops over the stopping nub. You should have a nearly permanently shut coupler.
  4. Next, cut your coupler 3/4 of the way down the shank so the short end is on the coupler end. Discard the rest. the short section is to give you something to grab hold on.\
  5. Clamp it to a rail, sank up out. Instant wheelstop!

**Alternatively,**glue a styrene disk to it, paint it blue, and instead of cutting the shank, clamp it to the rail as a Blue Flag.

Interesting.

Can you post a photo?

Soon as I can get my camera to focus in tight enough to not show a white speck, sure will…

Look for the ‘macro’ button - often displayed as a flower.

I made some blue flags this way. Great idea!
