A few years back in Model Railroader there was a switching layout based on this switching plan. http://www.atlasrr.com/Code100web/pages/10026.htm Any one know what issue it was in??
Model Railroader - November 1994 - “Switching at Abrams Creek,” by Jim Chukinas
Now see, this is what amazes me about this site! Give someone the slightest hint at what your looking for, talking about, whatever, and BAM!, they knock the cover off the ball!
Nice job Markgro!
I had an entire model & MR collection stollen and I’ve been able to replace many of the issues by requesting info in this forum. One of my requests was something like it was a walk in switching layout with one of the many small industrial area called produce street, can’t remember the name of the layout article but it was published in the late 80’s early 90s, and 2 days later someone had the issue date and page numbers plus a brief description , now thats amazing. Trying to locate things this side of the pond is sometimes hard but this forum gets a big thumbs up from me.

whywaites,
how was your magazine collection stolen? That sounds pretty crazy. I can’t imagine burglars saying, “score! we found a huge model railroader collection!”
If the magazines were in nice binders, they might have realized they were worth something. Either that, or they were model railroaders themselves.
Or they wanted any fast cash anyway they could get it - look at police reports about the junk that people steal out of cars - snowbrushes, dirty gym clothes, etc.
During one of New York City’s periodic garbage collectors’ strikes, there were stories of people leaving bundles of garbage, nicely wrapped in brown paper and tied with cord, in their unlocked cars. When they came back, the garbage was gone. Another way to get rid of garbage is to check it next time you fly Delta (Don’t Expect Luggage To Arrive) Airlines.
Hi, I was stationed overseas with the RAF for 3 years so most of my possesions went in to long term store, upon arrival back in the UK 3 years later my items that were in store were released to me minus 3 boxes. All my stuff was boxed (and as per regulations labled up with an inventory) and then put in to security crates. When I opened my so called secure crates 3 boxes were missing, it took ages and a long legal battle to get compensation and the insurance companies didn’t help matter ( I still believe insurance is a legal way to do you over) I got financial compensation but it didn’t replace my losses I’m still trying to replace my MR mags 7 years later as it’s hard to source stuff over here. I had all my locos and stock taken plus a Digitrax Big Boy system with extra boosters throttles etc etc. But the worst thing was my uncle was in the army during the early sixties and was the tank driver for the Beatles during the filming of Help I had 18 B&W original photos of the Beatles and my uncle & crew along with some rare early German issues of their albums. So money doesn’t replace everything.
