It’s my favorate weekend of the whole year!!!

I’m displaying with the Thousand Island Central School MRR Club. It’s an HO scale EZ-Track display (though we’ll have some N-scale and Lego stuff this year too). I got to start doing some maintainence on my fleet. Maybe I’ll see you there,

Jamie

Won’t be making it this year. I"ve been to nearly every year since I moved to Syracuse in 1994 and for the last 3 or 4 years every time I’ve gone its felt like a been there done that show. Compared to other shows like Springfield MA, its a giant junk show and relatively little in new merchandise at good prices. I finally have found the opportunity, or lets say it was pushed in my lap with a greedy ex and job loss to move to Washington DC. I get to finally try the Timonium shows I’ve heard so much about over the years.

E. Springfield is the best show I have ever been to, if its not there it doesnt exist. I still like Syracuse because it is like a tradition.

You can find me in the Center Of Progress building at the Syracuse Model Train Club. Check us out at www.syracusemodelrr.org . We bring a handful of modules with us that demonstrate different things from spline road construction …operating signals using JMRI interface and several scenery projects. I do agree this show does have its share of junk dealers but those guys always have people there buying stuff…and they sometimes have a better show profit wise than the store vendors…explain that one!! The historical society is what is the key at this show. They need all the dollars they can get to keep the CNY rail history alive. Check them out here www.cnynrhs.org and you will find the train fair info there and pictures from last years show to give you an idea. I also realize that this show does not compete with the bigger shows in the Northeast but it draws great crowds and I get to shoot the breeze with all the people from this hobby that I only see at shows like this. Tons of operating layouts of all scales and tons of vendors. And the Euro train enthusiasts will be there this year bringing their spin on the hobby which I can’t wait to check out. It’s extra nice for me this year as my wife gave me a wad of cash for our 10 year anniversary to spend at the show…I knew buying diamonds had its advantages!!..Come see me and we can have coffee!!..Tim

I plan to be there on Saturday. It is always an enjoyable show. usually go home with a couple things I didn’t have and didn’t need, but a whole lot of photos.

Tim, and a couple others, I’ll try to look you up. I’ll be a rather stout old guy with a beard…[:-^]

Scot, I bet we have talked sometime during the last few years. I love that set up in the corner…

The Floor plans are finally here!: http://www.cnynrhs.org/Train_Fair/TF_Floorplans.html

Our display is in the same corner of the Toyota building as Scot’s. See you all there,

Jamie

We are pretty much in the back middle of the Center Of Progress main building. Getting my shopping list ready!!..Tim

I plan to attend this show for the first time. I have directions, but I’m wondering where does one park? (on the State Fair grounds or across State Fair Blvd in the big lot?)

Thanks

I will be there. My table is against the back wall of the Center of Progress building right next to theentrance to the “back Room” that we used to have to set up in. I believe now they are going to put a large layout in there. I missed the show last year so I am happy to get back this year.

Parking is right on the fairgrounds…free of charge…plenty of spots between the buildings and also a shuttle that runs between the buildings. Just use Gate 2 I believe which is one down from the main gate.

Dont forget to check out the CNYRHS display at the back of the fairgrounds!

Two E-units, a PRR GG1, and misc equipment…you can walk right up to them and photograph them:

south edge of the fairgrounds, alongside the CSX tracks…

And…Finger Lakes Railway is running excursions during the show, about half a mile away:

Well,

guess it’s here (at least for me, towmorrow’s agenda: school, travel, setup).

The anticipation is:[banghead].

Once again I’ll be in the Toyota Building with the Thosand Islands MRR Club. If you can’t find us look for the table with the EZ-track on it. And the loco’s in my avatar will probably be on display all weekend too.

See you there,

Jamie

Will be there as a vendor…

and as part of the hiral modular group FCTT.

Must remember to stop at the bank after work :)[:-^]

I know that they need the money, and I have no problem paying to get in. The problem I do have is that model railroading is a family hobby, so the whole family wants to go. I have a wife and four kids, three of whom are over 3, so it would cost 38 dollars just to get in. Train money is tight enough already, plus you have to add in the gas to get there. The last two years we took our layout but this year we are between layouts, so it looks like we are going to pass this year.

The show in Clayton (I know it is tiny in comparison) has a family pass. Maybe they could consider something like that?

Not a bad 1st day today crowd wise…Lot of people stopped by our club display to watch our demos…I really think more people like to “watch” us do something rather that watch a train go round and round. Dan I saw you at your display but you were busy so I will say hello tommorow…same to you Scot…Today I browsed…tommorow I purchase!!!..Saw some cheap prices on some stuff this year…but also saw the exact opposite from some vendors…freakin economy…
