I would love to see one operate. How much does it cost?
I think this is a really good idea, but I’m just getting into dcc and I was wondering if these would “eat up” address slots on a digital system?
this sounds like a great idea but how does it work when you have 4 or 5 cars with it installed ?
Sounds good, but how long will the thread last which activates the uncoupling. It sounds like it would work better then the version for engines which lowers and raises to uncouple. More prototype then going up and down. Will they have a version for engines out any time soon?
GREAT IDEA! Can’t wait till they come out in N Scale!
Neat but pricey, hope to see this in a kit soon
At a c-note a car, I may not do the whole coal drag.
No more magnets! No more false uncouplings! What will they think of next?! ps:How heavy is this device?
This idea is great! It should be incorporated into every car on everyone’s railroad, cabooses too! I hope everyone gets at least two to try on their railroads, and give feedback to help everyone who reads these updates know these are truly the best coupling and most reapistic.
Interesting concept. I’d like to see a system like this adapted to a locomotive for use in switching. At $70 to do both ends of a boxcar, it can get pretty expensive to do a few cars.
Nice feature. However, having that feature, doubles or maybe triples the cost of the car. A decent 40’ or 50’ boxcar, costing ~$30, will now cost $100 (with double uncoupler)??
looks like it would be easy yo install one in a dummy helper engine
A great concept! Would love to see the application used in more than just freight and engine service. Why not passenger service? It would work well modeling commuter service. For example the daily operations of the LIRR in HO scale.
Very nice idea. However the price seems a little high. How about it being the price of a decoder ($25.00)itself ?
I don’t like the idea of the double sided tape. My experience with it is that it eventually gives up the ghost.
Great, but not really logic spending $ 70,- on a $ 10 -$ 20,- boxcar for uncoupling.
The idea is a start, but with 300 cars on the layout, the cost would be prohibitive. If we can get the cost down to $3-$5 per car, then it could become the next big thing in model railroading.
It sounds like the comments that were heard when color TV first came out…“I’ll wait until they get the bugs out, but it is just what I’m looking for” and like the quartz wrist watch…they were $300 when they first came out and as time went on, they were giving them out free at the race tracks with their logos on their dials. $ 49.95 a pop can get VERY COSTLY
This sounds like a neater version of automatic uncoupling than the split couplers that came out a years or so ago. If the knuckle activating thread is properly lubricated with something like graphite or teflon, it should last virtually forever. What a nice addition to switching layouts!
