T. & O.C. RY

I have an old lantern with the initials “T. & O.C. RY”. I’m trying to find what railroad the initials stand for?

That’s a hard one for me. I looked in “The Official Guide of the Railways” book I have from August 1950 and it doesn’t list anything with those intitials. The only thing that was close was “Texas, Oklahoma & Eastern R.R.” I’ll keep looking and get back to you if I find anything unless someone else should help you.

Toledo & Ohio Central Railway

related to NYC, Hocking Valley and parts broken off to C&O after its demise…Northwestern & Northcentral Ohio

the 1950 guide book that I have also listed the “T.&O.C.RY” as a connection for C&O but that it was not listed in timetables. So I am taking it as though this railroad did not possibly exist in 1950 that it was absorbed into the C&O as mentioned in the other reply. I looked through the pages they had on New York Central and they didn’t mention anything at all about it. The only page I found with the “T.&0.C. RY” mentioed was about the connection with the C&O.

I hate to throw a wrench into the works, But the “T&O.C.” was indeed the Toledo&Ohio Central, and from all my information, it was absorbed into the New York Central in the 1930’s. Don’t take this as “gospel”, but that’s what I have here.
In any event, if you have an artifact with the T&OC markings, I’m sure it’s a valueable collectors item.
If you really want to sell it for the best price, I would suggest an ad in TRAINS classifieds. You might try E-Bay, but Trains will probably be best. I have tons of old Michigan Central stuff that I am waiting to sell. I just can’t seem to part with it. You know…
I recently sold a bunch of old C&O stuff on the net, and didn’t get nearly what it was really worth.
You might also try the N.Y.C Historical groups, lots of collectors there…
Why not be more specific as to what you have, I could give you a ball park idea…

Thanks for the research. I’m not interested in selling it. Rather, I may try to expand my collection of one lantern to as many as my wife will allow.

Are you interested in collecting switch locks as well? I have a “surplus” on hand.
