Tacoma Washington by Moon light

I had the chance recently to be in downtown Tacoma with a full moon rising over Mt. Rainer. So I composed an image that contains a lot of history and modern features of this railroad town, including a light code left by a Tacoma Link streetcar.

Take a look and see what you think:

Outstanding picture, it looks like it should be on a postcard.

What’s the name of the Mt just above the cable-stay bridge?

Wonderful picture!

Thank you for the photo, it is a cool shot.

That would be Mt. Rainier, America’s most dangerous volcano (or so says the Discovery channel).

You can look at some of my other photos on that site with this link:

Mt Rainier is a favorite background for my train photographs.

…Welcome to the forum. What gorgeous, clear and beautiful colors in that awesome photo…!! That’s the nicest I’ve seen on here in some time. Must go and look at the others you note are posted…

Edit:

And the other photos are great too…Liked the caboose and truck meet…

Over 50 years ago, I went thru Tacoma on our way to Seattle {and beyond}, for Uncle Sam…{by train}, and I wonder if we would have passed thru and or past that Union Station in the photo…?

Based on my understanding of the railroad history of the area (I’m a member of the Puget Sound Model Railroad Engineers -PSRME.org), it would have taken extraordinary routing for you not to have passed by the Union Station. Of course, with exception of the station, it would have looked incredibly different.

Thanks for you comments.

…Do you have any close up photos of that Union Station you might show us…It does look unique in design.

A MOST EXCELLENT PHOTO!!!

Very nice, I love all the different light sources in the scene, causing a great range of colour, each seperated from one another by something. Am I making sense? Anyways, the composition’s great, and the colours are outstanding.

what remote did you use for this shot? I recently got a 40D, but now I don’t have a job and I’m dirt poor, but I still want to get some night shots with it.
