THAT IS A REALLY GREAT IDEA! DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IHC? I USED TO WORK THERE, JUST CURIOUS!
This is a great thing to do to make others aware of the enjoyment of model trains. It is amazing what model railroaders are doing to keep the hobby alive. I applaud them for making this wondeful favorite pass time available to others.
Take a model train to work 2010 is a great Idea. I did it last year," I took my brand new 20th century limited to work,"my co workers enjoyed it. I diffenetly will be doing it again.
Cathie, last I heard, IHC is now gone, and its founder / owner had considerable health problems, if not passed away.
The World’s Greatest Hobby’s web site seems to have taken down entries from previous years, so I don’t know if there’s a point to anyone submitting photos if even the best don’t get displayed. I went to their web site to see if they had any specific suggestions, but there aren’t any outside of this press release. I keep a couple container cars in their case on one of my shelves, that’s about it. I’ve heard some people bring a compact N or Z scale layout to work, but that’s pretty ambitious, especially if you haven’t started one like that already.
Great!!
I didn´t know anything about this day!!!
This year is going to be my first “take a model train to work day”
And posibly it could be the first person in Spain who joint it
I am going to set up some leftover N scale track around my desktop at work and run my Bachmann NYC passenger set.

We run G scale around our waiting room in the Pediatrics department every day. We have many adults that enjoy them as much as the kids!
Sounds good. I’m lucky in the fact I work from home, so this Friday I’ll run my layout during my lunch hour.
This was the first year I heard of this. This is an excellent idea.
So I brought my Bachmann “American 4-4-0 & Tender C.P.R.R. Jupiter in to set on my desk. What a conversation starter.
Had fun with this. Brought in 3 locomotives that I painted up like Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting had.
While I have some extra O and HO pieces around the house, I opted to go a slightly different route and combine two hobbies into one: I took in my LEGO train. It got a lot of attention and even garnered a few “I need to bring in a train next year” comments from coworkers.
