Tanks a lot for that, but what’s the story Andre?
If that ain’t 'shopped, I’m an Iranian rocket launch…

A friend sent the link. It looks Photoshop’d to me. To actually do that would require some significant lifting, cutting and welding capability, not to mention a ton of money.
Andre
(some toyish train company’s) new tank train?
Ba-dum-tss
Yep.[:o)]
I’d say that Walther’s now has the engine to go with their beercan tank car and their jailbox car.
I love it!!
Paul
Well, since we agree it’s clearly photoshopped (note the tank tracks are not continuous across the top), the next step was to find the locomotive, which looks like saddle tank WK&S 0-6-0 #65
Not that far-fetched…
But where’s the big gun? I was thinking it would be perfect for launching the Wabash Cannonball.
Steamtrayn,
Nice video. Thats going to be some layout. I’d be interested in watching your progress.
I like the one lonely polling pocket on the engineer’s side. A nice touch.

Yes, the old Lombard log hauler. There are a couple of those that have been restored to operation in Maine. If you think running a steam loco was cold in th winter, consider this. The guy in the cab is the fireman, the driver sits in a seat in front of the smoke box muscling around a big steering wheel for the front skiis.
Thanks, Allan, but don’t hold your breath. That layout had to go after the fire in the basement.
Dave
Andre, I think that’s what the Tomikawa Tani Tetsudo locating engineers used to pioneer the (4% grade 28 meter minimum radius) route.
Maybe the Lombard should have used longer, differentially-driven, treads, and gotten the pilot in out of the cold. Of course, it wasn’t fast enough to generate additional chill factor…

Considering they were the first tank-tread vehicles ever built (1901) - predating tanks and dozers, I don;t think they had the concept of steering by controllign the crawler treads quite down yet. It was troublesome even in the first tanks, and even some MUCH later WWII tanks had steering issues.
