Just purchased this Rivarossi H8 Allegheny and took it for a test run around our 20X50 club layout before parking it until i can afford the conversion to DCC /Tsunami sound.
Engine ran like a Rolex .

Gorgeous. Makes me wish my radii were big-steam friendly.
Enjoy!

It’s a very nicely erected steamer with lots of add-on details. The brake rigging on mine didn’t go on as it seemed it should, so I recall having to pare some plastic here and there, but it eventually snapped into place and has stayed there.
Also, as I do with all my articulated steamers, I remove the bottom plate under the drivers, lift out the gear on the driver axles, and slip the one engine’s drivers a quarter revolution or less. That way, the engines are out of synch all the time instead of the ‘camel walk’ that I don’t really like.
I put a Tsunami Heavy Steam in mine because it was the best decoder at the time. You should probably compare it with the QSI Titan, the newest from QSI. I have two Titans, one of which is in my A Class 2-6-6-4. It sounds terrific.
Congrats on your Allegheny.

Very nice looking locomotive! I’ll be getting one of these soon!
