Tales Of A Not-So-Frustrated-Anymore Railfan

Still coming east, with only two units. I hope they can add a third at North Platte–they apparently took out the dead one at Rawlins or Cheyenne.

SUCCESS, FINALLY.

Weather could’ve been better, though. Oh well…

Congratulations on a mission well planned and accomplished!

Congratulations, Brian! I’m glad all that hard work finally paid off! I am going to have to try and see it sometime over Christmas vacation because it looks pretty darn neat.

Carl would know better on this one, Willy, but I think the timing of this train through your neck of the woods isn’t very good for seeing it or taking pictures- middle of the night or early morning I would guess. However, you might have better luck catching the westbound empties.

EDIT: Before I forget and this thread falls into obscurity, I want to pass on a big “Thank You” to my sources of info on the whereabouts of this train. You both know who you are.

Actually, Willy, you probably could have gotten up early and caught today’s train somewhere to your north. I don’t think it got to Mo Valley before 9:00.

They swapped the GEVOs for three SD70Ms at North Platte–hopefully the lack of 1200 horses doesn’t hinder them too much.

As I write this, the train has entered Illinois; I expect it will probably hit here between 9:00 and 10:00, if all goes well. I also expect that I shall be asleep by then.

Hey I saw it come through Blair this moning at 10AM.

As long as it is for doing something fun, like watching trains, I have no problem with getting up a bit early. As for taking pictures, I almost never do it, so that doesn’t really matter to me.
