Good for Talgo!
Good on them!
Anyone else want to buy?
Pay Talgo the $4.6M. Then turn around and “adjust” Talgo’s property taxes to cover the $4.6M plus interest, fees, handling, services, and so on. Problem solved. Every so often Wisconsin could learn a thing or two from The Chicago Machine. Governor Ding-Dong and the eco-terrorist run state legislature should have never been involved in this money loser. Now, once the state has the trains, turn around and sell them at a huge profit to a state that is really full of idiots, The People’s Republic Of California. Of course, in the end, the rest of us taxpayers will end up paying for it because the People’s Republic Of California is beyond broke.
I think Scottie Walker should also be sued. He is the one that turned this whole thing into his own boondoogle. Let Scottie pay the bill or bring the trains back.
Blame Walker! Blame Bush! The Wisconsin Commies should never have gotten involved with the Spanish Commies.
Typical Tea Party shenanigans. And Talgo is left holding the bag. And their employees suffer as a result.
Mr. Benham, Wisconsin will rue the day that it did not recall Scott Walker. Whether it is business or government, the rule is to honor contracts that are in place, or renegotiate them. With this court fight going on, even the Chinese would balk at dealing with Wisconsin.
Talgo should be suing Scott Walker personally. It was his idea to default on the contract.
Go get the criminals in Wisconsin, TALGO! And don’t let them pay it off in Cheese!!
Let me say first, I think passenger rail in the right places is good and I think scrapping the planned service was a dumb idea. But I realize that the Walker administration has their right-wing point to make. However, this is no reason why Wisconsin should not fulfil their obligation to Talgo. They could complete the purchase and then sell the sets. The method that would make the most sense would be to use Talgo as their sales agent since obviously Talgo has lots of experience selling Talgo trains. Were Talgo to offer to act as a sales agent (were Wisconsin to pay up), Talgo would then be doing THEIR part to resolve the situation amicably.
“…And the winner is… the attorneys!” Here’s an idea for Wisconsin if they end up with the trainsets: paint them green & gold and run them as Packer Backer Specials eight times a year between Milwaukee and Green Bay. Add Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit away games, and you pay for the trains in a few seasons. Oh wait, I forgot… Walker didn’t want them to go to Chicago!
Good for Talgo, someone needs to hit the bank account of that screw-up Walker
wisconsin commies ,governor ding-dong,the peoples republic of california . even here you sign a contract then cancel you pay the bill plus court costs and fees
Yeah, I gotta say, I don’t understand not living up to your commitments. They deserve to get sued and lose title to the trainsets. I’m sure they would work nicely in Bay Area to Sacramento service or Illinois service.
There seems to be at least four stories here:
1 - The Democrats who overspent and bought the wrong trains.
2 - Talgo who built the trains under contract and can’t get paid. And picked WI to build a US plant and create WI jobs.
3 - The Republicans who refused to solve the problem by negotiating their way out of a bad deal, so they could move on, improve the service and move to increase speeds.
The Legal System will assure that all parties will be losers especially the people of WI who won’t have better rail service .
I hope Talgo wins and shows Wisconsin voters what an idiot they elected for a governor.
This goes to show one thing. those who oppose certain things based on ideology can be just as fiscally irresponsible as those they criticise for funding what ideologues oppose.
You would think this would be the downfall of Gov. Walker, but it won’t as he’ll find some way to blame this on the Obama administration, the prior Governor of Wisconsin and last but not least the unions.
Funny how he believes in smaller government and less federal input in state business but now wants federal funds to pay for this state project.
I hope Talgo gets the projects assets and a monetary reward too.
My condolences to the taxpayer’s of Wisconsin…
Jeffery Guse from Illinois, mind your manners! This Californian would like to hold you under a water tap and wash your foul mouth out with soap!
As for such ridiculously critical and unfounded opinions about how California spends its money on intercity train services, we might like to show Mr. Guth how well our Amtrak California services function and that they quite nearly break even, run full most of the day, every day and are quite well loved by their regular and new patrons. In fact, the Amtrak California Capitol Corridor is one of the most heavily used Amtrak routes in the entire US. Wisconsin should so note and pay up the $4.6M, get back in the state-sponsored Amtrak game with a vengeance and see what public good can result from it.
