Talgo to offer preview of new Wisconsin trains

NOT JUST WALKER – WI DOT applied for a more focused, better ROI TIGER grant for this stuff and the BO administration’s FRA shot it down.

Maybe FEC could get an early start to their passenger service with these trainsets?

This whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I am not spending tax dollars there if I can help it. I’ll buy my gas in Illinois when I am stuck having to drive to Wisconsin to visit family.

Allen, perhaps FRA “shot down” the TIGER proposal because they did not want to be involved with another Scott Walker situation. I wonder how many times Al Kalmbach has turned over in his grave during this fiasco.

This is great! What an opportunity for the taxpayers of Wisconsin to see what their state government spent money on that they will probably never get to use! Is the timing of this event, just before the recall election, coincidental?

Another reason why Barrett should have been the gov. Scottie is a disaster to have as the gov. Can’t wait to vote for Barrett whom should have won the first time around. I will miss the train sets if we loose them.

Wisconsinites are getting what they voted for. Buyer’s remorse anyone?

Buyer’s remorse would imply that Gov. Walker isn’t winning in all the poles. Obama won’t even show up to support Barrett! After Walker Runs away with this election, perhaps trains should move their lefty mag out of Waukesha. Their bias toward wasteful govt. run RR projects gives no balance to the discussion. (Why did you pull your article from a couple of days ago that was even more biased against Walker??) How about some more grandstanding for “Trolley” Tom who wants to throw what little we have in WI. into a worthless Milwaukee trolley loop.
The talgo maintenance facility will happen when the taxpayers get a better price on it. That’s called good governance. Unfortunately we can’t do anything about the School Bus nose on the head unit that Jim Doyle decided would look good in Milwaukee! See you at the poles…

thats what happens when the feds try to tell state gov’t what to do. …nothing gets done! Why do we need to replace current MLW-CHI service? Cant CHI service the new equipment? with current facilities? If not, then new equipment is not a good idea.

I guarantee those trains wil NEVER, EVER run in revenue service in Wisconsin. ZERO CHANCE.

While I agree with some of what Walker has done, I disagree with this. Wisconsin and the rest of the nation have to get over the asinine notion that Rail Transportation has to pay for itself. No, none, nada other transportation methods are required to do that. If they did, we’d have less airports, more toll roads and astronomical fuel taxes to pay for it all. I love the East Coast people talking above. Right now, the populated areas of the East Coast it is no longer economically feasible to build more highways, the amount of expense needed does not justify the need. So your roads are going to get more and more clogged. Gee, what is a great solution for moving mass quantities of people cheaply…Air - hardly, Road - see previous - rail…hmmmm, how about rail? We need to get our heads out of the sand and start investing in commuter rail to make it affordable, comfortable, usable and the most important of all…there!

While I cannot speak for the train as a whole,I think the Loco looks like an aborted Chevy Uplander.Quite hideous!ThankYou former Gov.Doyle for this no-bid ugly duckling!Truly the Edsel of modern transportation. And I thought the P-42 was bad!

All the noise and griping aside, WHAT MATTERS here is to REMEMBER in November 2012, WHO Supports rail services and WHO DOESN’T.

FYI Dave Stricklin, Wisconsin APPLIED for the federal money and won it based on the merit of the project compared to others. The fact that Scott Walker is grandstanding to show how much of a tea partier he is has nothing to do with it. The feds didn’t TELL Wisconsin they had to do it, remember, THEY ASKED first.

It is truly amazing to me how many people do not understand how the federal grant processes work. I know they are complex, but the feds step in to help out what the states want to do but can’t by themselves.

I love Illinois people trying to tell us how fed. politics work! BFF Doyle wins Obama’s gravy train and Wi. taxpayers were almost on the hook for the most inane of all projects, the Mil.-Madison never-high-speed line. (Paralleling a most times 6 lane interstate unclogged, speedway). I just hope fed. politics doesn’t bail out Illinois next year when they no longer have a state left (think Greece but much worse 'cause we can’t get Ill. to succeed). Bottom line… Walker loves the eminently sensible Mil.-Chi. run and will continue to support it, and those trains will run (Ohio, with what do you make your guarantee? At least give us some facts!) But alas, school-child Obama hates Walker’s guts. Keep knifing us in the back Illinois!
