These are outstanding cars!! After receiving my first CR car I had to go and order the other numbers.
Tangent always does a beautiful on every car they make. The may cost a little more, but well worth it.
Remember, you get what you pay for. I’ll take quality over quantity any time.
This is probably the finest offering yet fromTangent Models. The door latches must be seen to be believed - they are excellent!
David Lelbach has hit it out of the park again with the X-58. He was especially astute in marketing in Conrail as well as Penn Central, along with unlettered but painted in each road’s color. Combine these unlettered cars with Dan Kohlberg’s decals and you can replicate almost any of the paint schemes these cars ran in. To illustrate the variety, from 1978 to 1986 I photographed freight cars on the SP in west Texas. Of the CR X-58’s there were 13 cars filmed with 11 variations in paint, from PRR and PC patchouts, to full CR repaints. Penn Central cars that got my attention numbered five with five different schemes including a PRR patchout. PRR cars ten years after the merger with NYC totaled four cars with two lettering variations. The excellently researched, accurate models of today have moved the hobby far beyond the days of NYC "Big Boy"s and Santa Fe GG-1’s!
I recently purchased one the NS units from the X58 offering, and the detail is exquisite, the paint job excellent, and it tracks perfectly! I’m going to order the other two NS units and the CR units the Russ mentions below as well. Nice job Tangent!
