Tangent Scale Models’ HO scale gondola

Glad to see these coming available , I’ve been trying to kitbash two of these for my Southern Pacific RR without much success and with 12 road numbers I may want more than two.

I think the Tangent model is based on the same real cars as (or ones quite similar to) the Con-Cor one, which is a reworked version of the one Revell made in the 1950’s. It is, however, much better detailed, and the car body and couplers sit at the correct height above the rail (something that takes some doing to achieve with the Con-Cor car).

The currently available HO gons with ends that actually fold down are the Proto 2000 52’6" Greenville-built mill gondolas and the Athearn 65’6" ones. Proto’s kits come with two different styles of ends; Speedwitch Models makes a set for the Athearn car.
