i am in need of a 40 foot chemical car modeled after the ones used in the 1950’s and 1960’s that has the walk way on top i have search on ebay several times but no luck i do know that athearn used to make them and i do not know where else to look

Good question.

Try adding the term “DuPont” to your search. I remember seeing prototype DuPont cars in the mid 1960s.

Go to http://www.walthers.com/ and look up part #'s 293-3007 & 565-302. Also look at additional parts following the 2nd #. These are detail parts that can be added to a std tank car. Good luck!! [:)]

I saw tank cars 2 or 3 years ago that had a walkway that ran the length of the car. I am going from memory but I think they were Gulf oil and Hooker chemicals and I think Atlas made them.

here is a photo of the type of 40foot chemical car i am needing. it has the walkway on top not much of a dome when compared to todays chemical cars
