Tank care here, loading platform there, N scale over yonder

Looking through past issues again I came upon IIRC Aug/08 issue with a feature article about building a layout from a single sheet of plywood. It had 3 designs, 1 N scale (or my scale as I call it) and 2 HO. One layout idea was set in Western Oklahoma and had a couple of oil pumps, some storage tanks, and tank car loading for an oil scene. Does anyone even make an oil loading platform in N scale? If not would it be easy to model? It just sort of got me wondering.

Those layouts have some flaws, primarily because of the artificial gimmick of cutting all the benchwork from one 4X8 sheet.

A simple google search reveals:

Tank car loading platforms from TrainCat

N, Z, and HO

You should try that newfangled Google thingie.

Am thoroughly impressed with that website. I was starting to get to the point of not simply not building a layout, collect the N scale, and joining the local modeling club and run trains there. The model HO but that’s ok, I like all trains of scale, accept maybe Z. I’m only 26, but N is about as small as they should come. That website of course has now gave me a list of want-to-models. Particulary the tank loading platform, engine servicing platform, oil tank, construction trailor, triple-deck auto carrier, and although its way expensive and probably never use, the Park truss bridge. It could possibly be my favorite type of bridge, if there even is such a thing. The wood chip loader was nice too. Ok ok, so I want pretty much everything they make in N scale…[:D] Honest tho, I tend to forget about that new fangled thingy of google. Did you know a company makes a powered automatic-computer controlled inclinging tred mill that with the software package purchase can connect with google makes and adjust its incline to where ever you pick? You can walk, run, or jog up a simulated incline of Mt. Everest or San Fransico. Kinda cool.
