Hello;
Anyone know of a good place to get tankcar decals. I looked at walthers and all they have is modern ones. The tankcar I am doing was built in the twenties I think.

Micro Scale has one or two sets … The set I have appears to be for type 7 (1907) high walkway cars. most of the lettering is for railroads and not private owners. We NEED more decals sets for sure.

I have been gathering decals for a tank car fleet. Train shows can be good, there is often a vendor who brings a carton of decals and you can rummage thru it. Google is the other routine. I was able to turn up a Mobilgas tanker decal by repeated Googling.
Bill, Assuming you need them in HO here are a couple sources: http://home.comcast.net/~jerryglow/decals.html http://www.greatdecals.com/Griffin.htm Micro Scale has 2 sets that are for UTLX and other names as well as several sets with misc cars. There are a lot of Champ sets on ebay right now. Many do older cars. Good hunting! Roger Huber
Highball Graphics has many tank car sets, including Tank Train, Procor, ACF etc. http://www.mgdecals.com/homepage.htm Be sure to go through the full freight car listing to find them all. Be aware that these are printed on an ALPS computer, so you should seal them with a clear coat or Microscale’s Liquid Decal Film before handling them to avoid scratching the decals. This is an issue with all computer printed decals. Other than that, these are high quality decals. Jim started with mostly north eastern railroads but has been expanding the line with a lot of modern stuff from all over the country including a lot of leased and short line equipment. He also does custom work.
Highball is too new for what the poster wanted, here is a site for vintage cars including tank cars.
